2017 couldn’t get here soon enough. Seriously, this past year was so bad that someone started a GoFundMe page trying to save Betty White from 2016. What better way to put 2016 behind us than ushering in the new year with a bang, and I am one who loves to go all-out on NYE (last year one lady saw me and said to her husband, “see, that is how you are supposed to dress for New Years”). This year I wanted to try something different. I spent one New Year’s Eve watching the pineapple drop in Sarasota, and last year I had a blast at St. Petersburg’s First Night. This year I wanted to hit up Tampa, and of course being the social media nerd that I am, I wanted to see which party has been successfully creating the most hype. So, I conducted a brand monitoring report using Scraawl and am excited to announce the countdown of the top 3 New Year’s Eve parties in Tampa according to the analytics. (more…)
In 2016 big data became a fact of life. Once a trendy buzzword mentioned but not quite understood, insights from data analytics now drive most, if not all, major industries.
The Scraawl team is constantly working to improve the product so that customers can have access to the most comprehensive and accurate social media analytics. 2017 will be no exception as the Scraawl team iterates intelligently, expanding available features, services, and pricing options.
Here are the top 5 features to expect from Scraawl in the new year:
Content will always be the cornerstone of many online marketing strategies whether it’s search engine optimization, social media marketing, email marketing, or paid advertising. None of these strategies will succeed without the development of quality content, which is why every business needs a content marketing plan.
However, in 2016 only around 32 percent of marketers had a documented content strategy, so it’s no surprise that many brands fail to see the positive results a well-planned content strategy can deliver.
It’s officially winter, which means every family member up north comes down to visit me. At first I put them up in my apartment, but not this year; I’m done with that nonsense. The thing is, they all have different styles and tastes; and I want to find the perfect place for them. Hotel rating systems like Yelp are good and all for overall quality, but not about what makes a particular hotel unique. Social media is a great avenue to share experiences, media and paint a picture of what it might be like to stay at a particular hotel. However, when I ran a Scraawl social media report on the hotels in the area, only one hotel stood out from the crowd; Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa. (more…)
It is now common for travelers to tweet at every leg of their journey, from the airplane to the hotel room. Each check-in is an opportunity for hospitality companies to engage with their customer and to optimize their stay.

The Connected Health Conference is the premier international conference and expo for the exchange of research, evidence, ideas, innovations, and opportunities in connected health. This year’s event was hosted by the Personal Connected Health Alliance (PCHA). Its agenda was full of speeches and discussions by healthcare stakeholder leaders sharing of new research, actionable knowledge such as best practices, lessons learned, and conclusive case studies, and most importantly voicing the future direction. As with formerly known as mHealth Summit, the primary attraction was the exhibit floor with health IT vendors showcasing their products and platforms, but this time it has almost all vendors backing up demonstration with sales and partnerships – which tells how Connected Health industry has matured over the years.
Over the past few years, I’ve noticed a growing trend in my Facebook feed; friends posting about their subscription boxes. Each month they would share unique treasures contained within which encouraged my jealousy. The subscription box seemed like the perfect gift for those who are the hardest to shop for on our Christmas lists. It’s more personal than a gift card, and keeps giving them Christmas joy the entire year.
This year I wanted to get a close friend a subscription. There is already a list of the top 8 box subscriptions; but like a good consumer I wanted to find out from other people about their experiences.
This year the Nest Cam, the HTC Vive, and the Echo Dot have been popular items on holiday gift guides. Indeed, smart home products and virtual reality gear have been trending all year but what do these products have in common?

Which City had the best holiday tree picture on Instagram in 2016; Tampa or St. Petersburg?

Holiday lights not only are pretty to the eye, but they are a source of pride and competition for many Americans.
I remember when I was a kid, there were these two houses on my street engaged in a holiday light “cold war” each year, which would have put Clark Griswold to shame.
Eventually, it became such a big deal that it was covered by a regional news station. Which of course brought in more looky-loo’s and fanned the flames of what was already an out-of-control visual explosion of holiday cheer.
To settle the debate we would hold a neighborhood-wide poll to determine who won that year. So, I consider myself an expert on holiday decorations.
